Crossroads is a registered charity which provides practical and emotional support to Carers who are responsible
for the care of children, young adults, adults or older people at home, who have a physical/sensory disability,
learning difficulty or who are chronically ill and have life limiting illnesses.
We deliver these service across three Greater Manchester areas of Salford, Trafford and Stockport.

Leisure Break Service for Disabled Children in Salford - Wednesday, 12th May 2010
Crossroads tender bid to deliver a Disabled Children’s Leisure Break Service in Salford is successful. From the 1st of May 2010 Crossroads in Salford will begin providing a leisure break service for children and young people with complex health needs including children with life limiting conditions, enabling them to participate in out of school leisure activities of their choice. The service will work with individual children and families to identify activities ranging from accompanying trips to community based activities, family trips and outings of their choice. To support this service Crossroads will be purchasing its own specially adapted minibus, able to carry up to three wheelchairs including passengers. The minibus will also be used to support other projects and services at Crossroads.
Long service awarded - Monday, 21st December 2009
At the Crossroads AGM in December staff were presented with an award for their long standing service to Crossroads by the Mayor of Salford. A total of 19 awards were presented to staff for both 10 and 20 years service. Staff were presented with a certificate, a pin badge and a shopping voucher.
Paul Parlby the Scheme Director said: ‘It is extremely pleasing to see that staff are staying with Crossroads for long periods of time, our average length of service is currently 8 years which is excellent’. At Crossroads we recognise that the high standards of services are dependent on the contribution, effort and loyalty of our staff. As such, the new long standing service award will demonstrate that the contribution employees have made to the organisation is well valued’.
Crossroads is Aiming High for disabled children - Wednesday, 7th October 2009
Crossroads bid for ‘Aiming High’ funding to support parents and families of disabled children in Trafford has successful. The Aiming High for Disabled Children programme was launched by the government in May 2007. Its stated aim is to improve service provision across the board for disabled children and their families, enhancing equality and opportunity.

This new funding will be used for developing short break services in Trafford, providing the primary carer with some well needed time off from their responsibilities whether that is an hour or a week long.
